Jubilee MPs on Thursday accused Cord of presenting fake Okoa Kenya referendum signatures to the electoral commission.

“We have reliable information that the signatures Cord presented to the IEBC are not genuine,” said National Assembly Leader of Majority Adan Duale.

He asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) not to proceed to the next stage, forwarding the referendum Bill to counties, before ensuring the authenticity of the signatures.

PUBLISH IN NEWSPAPERS

The eight Jubilee lawmakers who were holding a press conference at Parliament said Cord should publish in newspapers of a national circulation the 1.4 million names and signatures it collected.

They said the coalition should also make the information available at IEBC constituency offices in the 47 counties so that Kenyans can verify it.

Githunguri MP Njoroge Baiya said apart from ensuring the signatures are genuine, the IEBC should also find out whether the Kenyans said to have signed in support of the referendum agree with the proposed amendments.

Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja said Cord had committed fraud relating to the signatures.
